Benefits of Membership 

  • Regular international and regional newsletters keeping you in touch with the activities of the society.
  • Regular regional research meetings (often jointly with other societies) addressing relevant topics e.g. the hormone replacement therapy controversy, life course epidemiology, GM crops, bioinformatics, spatial statistics, experimental design, ecological statistics.
  • Access to slides from regional meetings and abstracts from the IBC.
  • Includes electronic Biometrics, JABES and Biometric Bulletin.
  • Option to receive paper copies of Biometrics and JABES at a reduced rate.
  • Discounted registration fees for meetings and both regional and international conferences organised by the society. 

Membership Categories

  • Full Member: (Annual Subscription 55 pounds sterling) Full benefits of the Society including electronic subscription to Biometrics, JABES and the Biometric Bulletin, voting privileges and the right to hold elective office. Will also be put on the local mailing list to electronically get the local newsletter and any other local mailing.
  • Retired Member: (Annual Subscription 30 pounds sterling) Open to retired members who have been a member for over 10 years. All the rights of Full Membership. Will also be put on the local mailing list to electronically get the local newsletter and any other local mailings.
  • Student Member: (Annual Subscription FREE) Open to full-time students only. All the rights of Full Membership except voting and holding elected office. Will also be put on the local mailing list to electronically get the local newsletter and any other local mailings.
  • Supporting Member: (Annual Subscription FREE) Open to anyone who is a member of another region and who has an interest in the British and Irish region. Will only be put on the local mailing list to electronically get the local newsletter and any other local mailings.

    Full and retired members also have the option to receive paper copies of journals at the following costs:
     
  • Biometrics and the Biometric Bulletin: £10 extra
  • JABES and the Biometric Bulletin: £10 extra
  • JABES, Biometrics and the Biometric Bulletin: £20 extra  

In addition to subscription fees, a voluntary levy has been introduced which members can opt-in to when renewing their membership subscription. One of our largest expenditures is supporting travel bursaries to biometricians from developing countries to attend the IBC and to co-fund (along with the Fisher Memorial Trust) travel bursaries for young biometricians to attend the IBC and the Channel Network Conference. This voluntary levy (£5 or £10) will help cover these sponsorship items.

Note that the retired membership category is only open to members who have been a member at least 10 years, so please complete the renewal form below. It is not possible to apply for supporting membership online, instead use the paper form.
